W. Rolston Road Reconstruction Project- Update Three June 10, 2025

10 June 2025

Work on W. Rolston Road is expected to be returned in full force tomorrow morning, June 11, 2025.

As was mentioned in Update Two, work was slowed on Friday afternoon when the workers discovered two separate underground utilities that were not properly marked. In addition, the contractor encountered a section of unstable soils in the roadway just west of N. Bridge. As a result, the open cuts in that area had to be left open over the weekend and through Monday while engineers evaluated the conditions and formulated a long-term solution to stabilize the area. Engineers have now identified a solution, and the contractor has made all the necessary arrangements to return to full staff beginning Wednesday Morning.

The updated road design in that area now calls for the inclusion of a larger, more robust stone base to stabilize the area. After discussing the solution with the contractor, all parties have determined that the work will now require the full closure of W. Rolston Road near N. Bridge while the contractor installs the recommended materials. At this point, the full closure is only expected to be applied during daytime work hours on Wednesday, June 11th, and Thursday, June 12th. At least one lane of travel will be made available overnight once the contractor has completed each day.

During this time, travelers must use the posted detour to Hogan Road to enter and leave the area.

Once the contractor has moved beyond this sensitive area, the construction activity will return to normal.

Please remember to use caution when traveling through the work zone.

Road crews will begin a crack fill project in the City of Linden on Monday, June 9th. The crew will be starting on Bridge Street before moving into the Creekwood Subdivision, and then the Tickner area. This is a mobile operation that slowly progresses down the roadway. Drivers approaching a roadway crack fill operation should exercise caution to ensure safety for themselves and the workers. Here are some key precautions: · Slow Down: Reduce speed when approaching the work zone to avoid accidents. · Follow Signage: Pay attention to warning signs and flaggers if directing traffic. · Stay Alert: Watch for workers, equipment, and sudden lane changes. · Avoid Fresh Sealant: Driving over freshly applied sealant can damage the roadwork and affect vehicle traction. · Maintain Safe Distance: Keep a safe following distance from other vehicles to prevent sudden braking incidents. Call the City of Linden if you have any questions regarding this work 810-735-7980.
