The bridge repair work on the southbound lane of N. Bridge Street over the Shiawassee River is nearly complete. The contractor will now move operations to the northbound lanes beginning tomorrow, Friday, April 24, 2026.  Two-way traffic will remain, but the work will shift to the opposite side of the bridge. This change will require another lane shift in order to create a safe work zone for workers in the northbound lanes.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to take several weeks to complete.  

Drivers approaching the construction zone should exercise caution to ensure safety for themselves and the workers. Here are some key precautions:

-     Slow Down: Reduce speed when approaching the work zone to avoid accidents.

-     Follow Signage: Pay attention to warning signs and flaggers if directing traffic.

-     Stay Alert: Watch for workers, equipment, and lane changes
