W. Rolston Road Reconstruction Project - Update Five June 23, 2025

23 June 2025

The contractor has completed the underdrain and stone base on the north side of W. Rolston Road from N. Bridge Street to just west of Beach Buggy Lane. They are now moving operations back to the east to complete the south side of the road from just west of the car wash westward back toward Beach Buggy Lane. This section of work will provide intermittent access to N. Bridge Street by means of one lane, and ongoing access to the detour on Hogan Road. Motorists may have temporary delays through the construction zone as trucks are loaded in the open lane. When the open lane is clear, motorists can proceed with caution.

Work zones require extra caution, and we ask for your support in keeping safety a top priority. Please remember to:

·        Slow down and stay alert when approaching and traveling through construction areas.

·        Follow posted signs and directions from workers.

·        Plan ahead for potential delays and seek alternative routes when necessary.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve W. Rolston Road.

Working together we can create a safer and more efficient roadway while minimizing disruptions.

The contractor has completed the soil stabilization work just west of North Bridge that required the full closure of W. Rolston Road in that area. Construction will now return to the proposed methodology which will allow one lane to remain passable through the construction zone. This will provide intermittent access to N. Bridge once again. Motorists may have temporary delays as trucks are loaded in the open lane. When the open lane is clear, motorists can proceed with caution. It has also been brought to our attention that Genesee County Road Commission has a road maintenance project occurring on Hogan Road between W. Rolston Road and Lahring Road. We are told this work will clear the intersection of W. Rolston Road and Hogan Road by late morning as they work north. This will allow access on Hogan Road south to Silver Lake Road. Hogan Road north of W. Rolston will remain closed for several more hours until the road maintenance project is completed this afternoon. Once this county operation is completed, Hogan Road will return to normal access. We apologize for this added confusion. Road crews will begin a crack fill project in the City of Linden on Monday, June 9th. The crew will be starting on Bridge Street before moving into the Creekwood Subdivision, and then the Tickner area. This is a mobile operation that slowly progresses down the roadway. Drivers approaching a roadway crack fill operation should exercise caution to ensure safety for themselves and the workers. Here are some key precautions: · Slow Down: Reduce speed when approaching the work zone to avoid accidents. · Follow Signage: Pay attention to warning signs and flaggers if directing traffic. · Stay Alert: Watch for workers, equipment, and sudden lane changes. · Avoid Fresh Sealant: Driving over freshly applied sealant can damage the roadwork and affect vehicle traction. · Maintain Safe Distance: Keep a safe following distance from other vehicles to prevent sudden braking incidents. Call the City of Linden if you have any questions regarding this work 810-735-7980.
