W. Rolston Road Reconstruction Project- Update Seven June 30, 2025

30 June 2025

There will be a lot of activity on W. Rolston Road over the next few days. Roadway undercutting to accommodate the installation of edge drain and a stone base will continue near Beach Buggy Lane and to the west. In addition, the concrete curbing contractor is starting to work between Beach Buggy and N. Bridge Street. The installation of curbing in this section of roadway will require a high level of time sensitive activity which will result in very limited access for motorists in that area. They plan to keep one lane available for traffic, but motorists may have to wait for a significant amount of time while concrete trucks and equipment occupy the open lane. With that in mind, we recommend residents use the Hogan Road detour during this time. Construction in that area will be limited to one lane, except for the loading and/or dumping of trucks. Motorists may experience a slight delay during that process.

Work zones require extra caution, and we ask for your support in keeping safety a top priority. Please remember to:

·        Slow down and stay alert when approaching and traveling through construction areas.

·        Follow posted signs and directions from workers.

·        Plan ahead for potential delays and seek alternative routes when necessary.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve W. Rolston Road.

Working together we can create a safer and more efficient roadway while minimizing disruptions.

Sign up to receive emergency alerts and severe weather warnings that could directly impact you and your family City of Linden is able to send you emergency alerts via text message, email, pager, or voice mail (in extreme cases), based on your preferences. It is important that we collect this contact information because many households no longer utilize traditional land-based telephone lines. The system is intended to be used for emergency alerts, as well as non-emergency incidents that may have significant impacts to residents. Emergency Alerts could be related to specific hazards that require some kind of action be taken such as evacuation, shelter in place, boil water orders, etc. Non-emergency alerts could include significant transportation problems with prolonged impacts or significant ongoing police or fire activity. This list is not meant to be all inclusive, and demonstrates that this system will not be used for routine information. In addition to receiving information on your wireless device, you may also receive notification on your land telephone line (if you have one) depending on the type of incident or event. Please provide your address and preferred method(s) of contact. Adding your address will allow tailoring so you do not receive alerts that don’t pertain to your geographical area. These alerts are provided free of charge, however standard text messaging rates and other charges may apply. If you wish to subscribe to SMS text messages only, text your zip code to 38276. There is also a mobile app available. If you would like to sign up for notifications or add the weather option: https://portal.civicplus.com/MI-Linden/dashboard

The contractor has been progressing along nicely on the south side of the road. At this point they are rapidly approaching the intersection of W. Rolston and Beach Buggy Lane. The plan is to split dig the intersection so that the residents will always have at least one lane to access Shiawassee Shores. This will be accomplished by closing the east lane (exit lane) of Beach Buggy Lane at W. Rolston while they install edge drain and stone base in that area. Once that has been completed, they will open the east lane for access and close the west lane (entrance lane) for completion. This process will require motorists to share a lane when entering and exiting, so please proceed with caution while work occurs at the intersection. With continued cooperation from mother nature, this process is projected to take two days to complete. Work zones require extra caution, and we ask for your support in keeping safety a top priority. Please remember to: · Slow down and stay alert when approaching and traveling through construction areas. · Follow posted signs and directions from workers. · Plan ahead for potential delays and seek alternative routes when necessary. NOTICE OF MILL POND TREATMENT: THURSDAY, JUNE 26, 2025
23 June 2025
The contractor has completed the underdrain and stone base on the north side of W. Rolston Road from N. Bridge Street to just west of Beach Buggy Lane. They are now moving operations back to the east to complete the south side of the road from just west of the car wash westward back toward Beach Buggy Lane. This section of work will provide intermittent access to N. Bridge Street by means of one lane, and ongoing access to the detour on Hogan Road. Motorists may have temporary delays through the construction zone as trucks are loaded in the open lane. When the open lane is clear, motorists can proceed with caution. Work zones require extra caution, and we ask for your support in keeping safety a top priority. Please remember to: · Slow down and stay alert when approaching and traveling through construction areas. · Follow posted signs and directions from workers. · Plan ahead for potential delays and seek alternative routes when necessary. 16 June 2025
The contractor has completed the soil stabilization work just west of North Bridge that required the full closure of W. Rolston Road in that area. Construction will now return to the proposed methodology which will allow one lane to remain passable through the construction zone. This will provide intermittent access to N. Bridge once again. Motorists may have temporary delays as trucks are loaded in the open lane. When the open lane is clear, motorists can proceed with caution. It has also been brought to our attention that Genesee County Road Commission has a road maintenance project occurring on Hogan Road between W. Rolston Road and Lahring Road. We are told this work will clear the intersection of W. Rolston Road and Hogan Road by late morning as they work north. This will allow access on Hogan Road south to Silver Lake Road. Hogan Road north of W. Rolston will remain closed for several more hours until the road maintenance project is completed this afternoon. Once this county operation is completed, Hogan Road will return to normal access. We apologize for this added confusion.
